Meadowayne Dairy is family owned and have been in business for over 22 years. Simply put, we do our best to produce good products and keep it that way.
The raw milk we use is only what is produced by our own cows, so we control the feed, the cleanliness at milking time, the temperature of the raw milk and raw cheese and also the conditions of storage and aging. This insures the quality we require, and a very refreshingly healthy product.
We care for our own cows, and we feed them a nutritional diet of mostly hay to keep them healthy and happy. We use no hormones to make them produce more milk, and there are no antibiotics in our milk. We care for the milk ourselves, cooling it quickly to insure a perfect food. We know that to make good cheese, you have to start with good milk.
Our farmstead cheeses are created by our artisan with great care. He does the old style of cheddaring, hand stacking the cheese slabs, and salting carefully to make a proper texture. He stores the cheese in our cellar at a temperature so our cheese is not force aged (stored at a warmer temperature so the cheese ages faster) as many cheese of today are. This makes for the delicious medium and sharp flavors you expect in a good cheese.
